I joined Dymind on May 6, 2021. Why did I choose Dymind? I wasn’t so sure at the very beginning. Many people would ask why I gave up the work in the hospital together with the benefit of lifelong employment guarantee? I asked myself the same question. After spending over half a year in Dymind, I found the answer.
I. Dymind is a company with valuable belief
I never expected my new employer would hold “creating products with social conscience and responsibility” as one of its core values while more and more people and enterprises are only seeking to get better paid. As a physician who had been working in a hospital for 8 years, I became attracted by this core value of Dymind. During my orientation training, Mr. Zhai shared with us the connotation of Dymind, i.e., “grateful” and “diligent”. The company aspires to treat everything with a grateful heart and work for the best benefit of our customers, parents, families and the whole society; while diligence is the cornerstone of Dymind in seeking its development. Resonating with my personal pursuit of always seeking to help others with a thankful heart, I decided to join the efforts of Dymind.
II. My shift from a lab physician to a researcher
I had been worrying about what I can do for Dymind as a previous lab physician. My mentor in Dymind helped me a lot in my role change from a lab physician to a researcher, and provided me with the direction that I can work towards. Later, I joined the Project S027 team. That was a pilot project and the whole team was not quite sure at the beginning as to what we could achieve, as there is no similar products in the market then. However, I knew that the success of the project would mean a lot to the patients as well as lab physicians. After relentless work day and night, the team was finally able to bring out the early form of the product. I myself was responsible for drafting the template, and my work was recognized by executives of the company. Knowing that my efforts would benefit lab physicians, I was more determined to become a qualified researcher. I was quite excited when I saw the S403 sample that I designed, envisaging that one day it might be widely used in clinical labs. The 5103 prototype, which I had devoted my efforts to, is like my child who grows from an infant to a grown-up. I became confident that I can do more in Dymind to help solve the pain points I once suffered as a lab physician. As the same time of serving the customers, I also achieved my own aspirations.
III. Staying true to the original aspiration, and forging ahead with a resolute mind
This phrase is saying that only those who sticks to the original intention and works relentlessly and courageously forward can arrive at their desired destination. What does “original aspiration” mean? Is it the innocence that “we all have as a new-born infant”, the happy experience we have “when we first meet the one we love”, the courage for us “to find the truth even in face of all difficulties”, or the peace of mind “when we are emerged in the beauty of nature”. Or is it the indomitable spirit of the martyrs who were willing to sacrifice themselves to safeguard the people, the brave heart of the forerunners giving all out to win us a peaceful time, or the patriotism of the characters as depicted in news reports, books and film and television works?
To me, the answer is different. As the saying goes, “Preserve your dignity as a nobody; promote the social welfare as a somebody”. I am but a nobody, and all that I can do is to constantly improve myself as a member of the company so as to better serve the company, the customers and the patients. What am I going to do next? I will “continue to forge ahead” in order to “get to the destination” that I have been dreaming of. To achieve the company’s values, i.e., to create products with social conscience and responsibility, to be a respected company in the industry, and to align our business with social values, every one of us in Dymind needs to “stay true to our original aspiration, and forge ahead with a resolute mind”.
